Lt. Harmon served approximately 28 years with the Department of Safety and Homeland Security since February 1995, retiring June 30th 2021. He served in both the Commercial Vehicle and the Tennessee Highway Patrol Divisions. He started holding safety classes with TFA Master Loggers in 1997. He served as the Supervisor of the Special Programs Unit in the Chattanooga District. This included PIO duties, Pupil Transportation, Federal New Entrant Program, Safety Education etc. He is a Commercial Vehicle Specialist. He served as a Commercial Vehicle Safety Adjunct Instructor and FMCSA/North American part A & B Instructor at the THP training center. He performed Federal and State Compliance Reviews on Commercial Carriers (audits). He served as National President of the Uniformed Safety Education Officers Incorporated (USEOW.org). He is a Co-Author of a Prosecutor’s Guide to Commercial Motor Vehicles, Monograph (National District Attorneys Association). He is a Graduate of Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command. He is the recipient of 2016 Hale Award given by his peers (USEOW) for the Best National Traffic Safety Presentation in the Nation. He is the recipient of the 2017 Colonel’s Excellence Award for outstanding Achievement and 2017 Trooper of the year for the Tennessee Highway Safety Office Cumberland Region with outstanding community service. Lt Harmon holds numerous certifications relating to traffic & public safety. He resides on Families Century Farm in Dunlap, TN (Sequatchie Co) with his wife Gayla and Family.
