Rachel Greene is Assistant State Forester/Director of Forest Management. In this role, Rachel supports the Forest Data & Analysis, Forest Health & Sustainability, Reforestation, and State Forests Units. She also provides oversight to the Division’s budget, grants, contracts, procurement, and staffing.
Rachel began her career with Division of Forestry in February 2020 as the Forest Data & Analysis Unit Leader. Her work as Unit Leader garnered a Special Achievement in GIS award from Esri. She previously held a research staff position with Mississippi State University’s Forest & Wildlife Research Center with a focus on balancing economic, operational, and conservation objectives within industrially managed forests; landscape conservation planning; and spatial data science. Rachel earned her M.S. in Forestry & Environmental Resources from North Carolina State University in 2014.
